The existing Dental Practice was outdated and small, with the new extension doubling the footprint of the building, allowing additional surgeries and a welcoming reception and waiting area.

The appearance of the building was modernised with the introduction of timber clad extensions to the front, side and rear. With the building also benefiting from new windows and render throughout.

The project needed to be completed by a certain date so we were able to dedicate the resources to ensure the project was delivered on time and on budget. Another consideration was having to keep the practice open to the public while work was ongoing. We appointed a separate Construction Design & Management (CDM) Coordinator to ensure all Health & Safety precautions were being adhered to on site.

Both the client and patients were delighted with the end result, making it a strangely enjoyable experience going to the dentist…rather than a pain!

Services (completed at McGregor Garrow Architects)

  • Following the Feasibility Study, we obtained the planning and building warrant approvals from the council.
  • We then arranged a competitive tender, and appointed the chosen builder on a fixed price contract.
  • Carried out site inspections, liaising with the client/builder and council during the construction stage.

The extension was completed in December 2014, with a build duration of 20 weeks.
